Old Town Scottsdale vs. North Scottsdale: Two Completely Different Lifestyles?
Old Town Scottsdale vs. North Scottsdale: Two Completely Different Lifestyles?
When people say they want to live in Scottsdale, one of my first questions is: “Which Scottsdale?” Because living in Old Town Scottsdale and living in North Scottsdale can feel like two completely different experiences.
Old Town Scottsdale is all about energy, convenience, and being close to the action. You’ll find restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, nightlife, shopping, spring training, and plenty of entertainment within a relatively compact area. Housing ranges from condos and townhomes to charming older neighborhoods and beautifully remodeled properties. If you love being able to grab dinner, meet friends, or find something to do without traveling far, Old Town may be a great fit.
Head north, and Scottsdale begins to feel very different. North Scottsdale offers more space, dramatic desert scenery, mountain views, golf communities, gated neighborhoods, and some of the Valley’s most impressive luxury homes. Communities like DC Ranch, Grayhawk, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Troon, and Silverleaf each offer their own lifestyle and personality. Outdoor recreation is also a major part of life here, with hiking, golf, biking, and desert trails nearby.
Neither area is “better.” It really comes down to how you want to live.
Do you want restaurants, nightlife, and activity right outside your door? Old Town might feel like home.
Would you rather have more space, desert views, golf, and a quieter residential setting? North Scottsdale may be more your style.
That’s what makes Scottsdale so interesting. You can move just 15 or 20 miles and experience a completely different version of the city.
Before choosing a home in Scottsdale, choose the lifestyle you want first. The right neighborhood usually becomes much easier to find from there.
